The German Association for Housing, Urban and Spatial Development

The German Association for Housing, Urban and Spatial Development (DV) with head office in Berlin, regional committees and a branch in Brussels is accredited as a non-profit organisation, founded in 1946. The DV is also a member of the International Federation for Housing and Planning (IFHP).The DV ltd is the commercial branch of the Association. The German Institute for Town Development (DSSW) and the German-Austrian Urban Network operate with the DV.
This Association is a platform for architects, urban planners, representatives of housing industry, credit institutes as well as representatives of public authorities and enterprises. Its main objective is to facilitate the cross-sectoral dialogue of public authorities and private institutions and
to promote further exchange of knowledge and experiences.
The Association is dealing with principle questions and perspectives of housing, urban and spatial development. It offers a clearing center for the Federal Ministries and related associations.

According to the project of VITAL CITIES the DV supports the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Housing and is therefore responsible for effective, internal communication between all the partners. The progress results of every subproject are reported by the DV for the German Federal Ministry. The specific interest of the German Federal Ministry and the DV are the pooling and exchange of experiences illustrated by concrete case-studies reflecting different approaches and aspects. The DV in particular, will spread the experiences among interested groups. In this project, the DV is responsible for organising and carrying out project management events in close co-operation with the retail trade forums. Furthermore, project marketing and dissemination of results, especially the policy-oriented dissemination of results is another task. The DV prepares press material and is the initiator of meetings with political and administrative decision-makers.
