Retail Trade in Romania

There has been a noticeable development of green-field retail settlement lately in Romania. Most of the time, they have not been integrated in urban planning but this development is just at its beginning. (It therefore has been unable to judge about further development, yet. A national spatial development plan and a variety of regional plans according to urban planning are in effect in Romania.)
Thus, Romania is still very interesting for investors because of its tremendous potential for developing the retail trade .
In Romania, the change to market economy had great effect on the supply and demand of products and services.
The institute URBANPROIECT is very experienced in co-operation with international investors and partners and had already participated on international projects as well.
Therefore, URBANPROIECT is one of the partners of the Vital Cities project.
Its objectives are to examine the possibilities to support a concentration of retail trade (and its functions) in inner cities.
(A survey will be carried out in order to receive information about the influence of retail trade networks on the development of cities. The survey will provide the information to be able to set up rules and regulations for future city development.)
